Concurrent Solo Exhibits: Kevin Morrissey and Cody Mathews
The acrylic and mixed media works featured in Kevin Morrissey’s exhibit, Sanctuary, depict large flat silhouettes of architectural structures filled in with atmospheric color fields and environments, paired with an animal breaking the plane between the positive and negative space. The imagery in this series is meant to address themes of how environment and experiences influence our understanding of identity. These works are intended to express conflict in coexisting dualities of faith and doubt, free will and predestination, wealth and wisdom, sin and salvation, and the durability of grace. In Cody Mathews’ Salted Solitude, the artist presents a collection of photographs that look to isolate and share the feeling of surfing, while exploring the southern sun.
