SCAC opens two brand-new positions
Agency growth continues
The South Carolina Arts Commission is continuing its growth trend with two new positions now open for applications.
With heavy demand for SCAC programs and grants comes increased demand on our team, so the agency is hiring to meet those needs in arts industry… but one will also touch artist development and arts learning as well.
Consistent constituent service is a priority for the SCAC, and these will make it more responsive and a more robust resource for those seeking assistance.

Arts Industry Coordinator
- Application deadline: Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET
- Compensation information: $45,000-$48,000 / FT / state benefits
- foster relationships with arts administrators, organizations, community representatives, school districts, colleges/universities, and governmental agencies through meetings, public forums, panels, and other creative activities
- work with arts industry team to administer short and long-term planning goals and guidelines for SCAC assigned grant categories and programs in accordance with agency mission, values, and strategic plan
- generate MOUs, prepares agreements, and creates contracts for programs/projects in accordance with established policies and procedures
- work closely with consultants contracted to provide training and services related to South Carolina’s arts sector
- ensure consistent communication to partners about projects and programs
- collect and distributes arts program materials; prepares statistical and other reports to evaluate program effectiveness
- identify potential partners for arts industry grants and programs
- build relationships for collaboration opportunities for artist industry offerings
- represents the SCAC at local, statewide, and national cultural activities, meetings, and conferences
Workforce Development Coordinator

- Compensation information: $45,000-$48,000 / FT / state benefits
The workforce development coordinator demonstrates the importance of the creative sector as a workforce and economic catalyst in South Carolina. They work with grantees, artists, educators, and organizations on statewide initiatives across the three areas of focus for the SCAC (Arts Industry, Arts Learning, and Artist Development). They will work under the supervision of the arts industry director and serve as a member of the programs team.
As mentioned in the introduction, the workforce development coordinator will be able to be involved in most of the agency’s focus areas. Among the responsibilities in these areas:
- Arts industry: assigned to work with Emerging Arts Leaders and Arts Leaders Development grants
- Arts learning: manage the programmatic content, professional development, and communications for a Creative Careers Studio, a virtual and programmatic platform to support high school students who are interested in creative or artistic fields.
- Artist development: assigned to work with Artist Business Initiative grants and Artist Business Initiative alumni and manage the Artist Entrepreneur Incubator program
