Columbia opens micro-grant program for artists
Up to $1,500 possible for Midlands artists
The city of Columbia is now accepting applications from local artists for micro-grants through its Columbia Streams Art public art program.
The Columbia Streams Art program will provide micro-grants to 20 local artists with awards ranging from $500 to $1,500. The final product of the art project submitted must fall into one of these three categories:
- Amplifying the rich history and story of Columbia, South Carolina.
- Improve and expand public knowledge of our rivers, the Saluda, the Broad, and the Congaree, and encourage public recreation activity at river access sites.
- Furthering sustainability with a focus on topics like climate change, heat reduction, beautification, and conservation.
The micro-grants are open to artists who live in or work in the Columbia area, with an emphasis on artists or an art team who have publicly exhibited in the Columbia or larger South Carolina area.
Information about the micro-grants is here, and the application portal is on Mayor Rickenmann’s information page.
